4th September 2015

A jazz ensemble formed by Music students at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College have been chosen to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The Richard Taunton’s Jazz Combo – comprised of Adam Coffin, Alex Lockheart, August Fox, Jack Gallacher, Joshua Attrill, Matthew Chappell and Quantae Ramdin, and led by teacher Sam Adams – have been asked to play at Music for Youth’s Schools Prom taking place on Tuesday 24th November, 2015.

This follows on from the group winning an Achievement in Innovation award at Music for Youth’s National Festival in July, when they were praised for their creativity, energy and cohesive sound.

Student Alex Lockheart said:

This is a great way to finish off my sixth form education and I’d like to thank Music for Youth for allowing us to showcase original music.

Paul Swindale, Learning Area Manager for Music and Performing Arts at RTSFC, said:

We are huge fans of the Music for Youth programme at Richard Taunton’s, and we are delighted to be taking part in this prestigious showcase event. It just goes to show that the music produced by our students is comparable with the best schools, colleges and music services across the country.
