Jumping for Joy after Trampoline Competition Success!

19th December 2017

Eight of our trampolinists competed in the Southern Schools Championships this month on the Isle of Wight, under the guidance of our international trampolining coach, Howard Tear, and all came back as winners! They have now qualified for the semi-finals of the British Schools Trampoline Championships to be held in Kent in January 2018. Our Trampolining Academy is just one of many enrichment activities that are on offer to our students!

Our individual medalists
Left to right: Lucy Hull, first place novice under 19 girls.  Thibaut Farmer, third place intermediate under 19 boys. Lucy Miller, second place intermediate under 19 girls.

Lucy Miller, says, “I was really pleased with how I performed. The judges were impressed with my form and I was absolutely thrilled to come second. I’m looking forward to the next stage of the competition where I will be performing a more challenging routine with some difficult new moves.”

Howard Tear, the students’ coach, says, “I am so pleased that all eight of our trampolinists have qualified for the Southern Zonal Finals. Lucy Miller performed way above expectations to secure second place. She performed her routine with total control and excellent gymnastic form. Both Lucy Hull and Thibaut Farmer were competing in their first ever trampoline competition, which was an outstanding achievement. However, the most pleasing aspect of the whole day was the team performance, with both our girls’ novice and intermediate teams qualifying to the next round.”

Leading up to the competition in January the students will be working hard on refining their technical skills and gymnastic form, as well as maximising the difficulty of their routines, in order to pull off an even more impressive semi-final performance.
