Industry Week: Talks and Workshops with the Professionals!

14th November 2017

Our annual Industry Week is just one of many exciting opportunities that we offer to our students to help inform their future career plans.

This year’s event was a resounding success! Students had the opportunity to hear from, and network with, successful and inspiring professionals from a range of organisations and industries.  Here’s just a few examples: the Mayflower Theatre, Ordnance Survey, Royal Marines, David Lloyd, Frantic Assembly, Camp America, Solent University, Winchester Cathedral, Saints Foundation, University of Southampton, Southampton Solent University, Unity 101 Community Radio, Zoo Nation Dance Company and Advantec.

Over 50 talks and workshops took place, covering a huge variety of topics. These spanned independent film making, script-reading and editing, networks and connectivity, nursing, promoting yourself as an artist, music technology, working as a professional photographer, curation of historical artefacts, social media and marketing, computer games design, working as a make-up artist, commercial dance, and much more!

Students also took part in career speed-networking activities and Dragon’s Den style events. We were even visited by some of our performing arts alumni who are now gainfully employed and keen to share their experiences and top tips!

Our Principal, Alice Wrighton, says, “Industry Week is a significant event in our calendar. Hearing directly from inspirational people who are experts in their field strengthens motivation and helps students to focus on getting the qualifications and developing the employability skills that will open doors for them.”

Here are a few highlights from the week…
