Adult Education Funding

Funding Eligibility for Adult Learners
Understanding your funding options is important when planning your education. Below is a brief guide to help you determine what funding might be available to you.

Adult Skills Fund (ASF)
The Adult Skills Fund supports learners aged 19 and over to access qualifications that improve their skills and job prospects. Eligibility depends on factors such as age, income, prior qualifications, and residency status. Many courses are fully funded for those on certain benefits or earning below a specific income threshold.

Free Courses for Jobs (FCFJ)
The Free Courses for Jobs scheme offers a selection of fully funded Level 3 qualifications (equivalent to A-levels). This is available to adults earning below the specified income threshold, even if they already hold a Level 3 qualification.

Advanced Learner Loans
Learners aged 19 or older who wish to study a Level 3 or Level 4 qualification may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan. This government-backed loan covers course fees, and repayments only begin once earnings exceed a set threshold.

Tailored Learning
Tailored learning offers flexible, personalised courses designed to meet learners’ individual needs and goals. These courses may be funded or co-funded depending on the type of course, personal circumstances, and the availability of local or national funding.
