Course Summary
This course provides learners with essential knowledge to recognise signs of domestic abuse, understand its dynamics, and respond effectively to support individuals. Topics covered include types and indicators of domestic abuse, legal and ethical considerations, and support services available for victims. By completing this certificate, students will gain valuable skills to contribute to the safeguarding and well-being of individuals affected by domestic abuse, enhancing their ability to work sensitively and professionally in roles across social care, healthcare, law enforcement, and community support sectors.
This is a 4 month course and will be delivered online. This course is free subject to meeting eligibility criteria such as being aged 19 years or older.

Key Topics
This qualification is designed to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact. The need for education and training across sectors to enable identification of abuse, allocation of support and referral is a recurring theme within regional domestic abuse strategies.
Awareness of domestic abuse and its impact is important for those working in a wide range of sectors such as healthcare, social care, childcare, education, and housing. There is a need to understand the issues, report on those who may be at risk and support signposting to relevant services.
Assessment
Students enrolled onto this course will be allocated an Assessor/Tutor. All units will be individually internally assessed using a range of assessment methods. Assessment will be Internally Quality Assured (IQA) and Externally Quality Assured (EQA) by the Awarding Organisation.
The different types/methods of assessment will be discussed between student and Assessor/Tutor.

You can progress onto another adult education course.
Entry Requirements
While there are no strict entry requirements for this qualification, students will need to complete initial and diagnostic assessments in English and maths to determine the level of the course.
