THIS PRACTICAL AND CREATIVE COURSE WILL DEVELOP YOUR PERFORMING SKILLS AS A SOLOIST AND AS A MEMBER OF AN ENSEMBLE.

You will learn about how to begin your career as a professional musician, the history of rock and pop music, and will build on your notation, listening and composition skills. Additionally, you will take part in live performances both in and outside of college.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

Single and Double:

  • Ensemble and solo performance
  • Creating music to perform
  • Influential performance practice
  • Prepare to work in the industry.

Double Only:

  • Arts administration
  • Instrumental or singing techniques.

Career OPtions:

Freelance musician, show producer, musical director, venue manager, promoter, artist & repertoire, composer/publisher.

Course Requirements

At least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language. All students are required to attend an audition (performance of a piece in any pop style: pop, funk, soul, reggae, indie, rock).
