THIS ACADEMIC COURSE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A RICH VARIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES FROM WORKSHOPS WITH PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS AND COMPOSERS, TO PERFORMING IN A VARIETY OF CONCERTS.

You will develop your performance, composition, score reading, and analysis skills and explore various genres of music. Additionally, you will have the chance to visit conservatoire open days and various concerts.

Topics Include:

  • Development of performance skills (including 1 hour per week instrumental tuition and mock recital).
  • Composition techniques (using industry standard macs and software)
  • Historical analysis of musical styles including: western classical music 1750- 1900, twentieth century art music and jazz
  • Developing listening/understanding skills.

Music teacher, performer, composer, musical director/conductor, music therapist.

Course Requirements

At least five GCSEs at grade 5 and above, including English Language. All students are required to attend a music audition. Your instrument or vocal ability needs to be at grade 5 standard and you must be able to read music.
