Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings – Award

Course Summary

This course introduces students to the core aspects of health and social care, focusing on the diverse needs of Adults and/or children and young people. Learners will explore topics such as the roles and responsibilities of care workers, basic communication skills, and the importance of safeguarding and promoting welfare. By completing this award, students will be equipped with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to begin a career in health, social care, or childcare settings, laying the groundwork for further study and professional development.

Key Topics

This qualification will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s sectors. They include the roles played by workers, from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others.

Assessment

Students enrolled onto this course will be allocated an Assessor/Tutor. All units will be individually internally assessed using a range of assessment methods. Assessment will be Internally Quality Assured (IQA) and Externally Quality Assured (EQA) by the Awarding Organisation.

The different types/methods of assessment will be discussed between student and Assessor/Tutor.

Progression

Upon achieving this qualification, students can choose to either deepen their expertise at the same level/type of qualification or advance to higher-level qualifications within the same field or related areas. This qualification can significantly enhance employment prospects for roles directly related to this specialised pathway. Entry Requirements

While there are no strict entry requirements for this qualification, students will undergo assessments in English and numeracy to determine their skill level. Additionally, students must be at least 19 years old to enrol in this programme.
