Course Summary
ESOL Skills for Life course is designed to develop all areas of English language and literacy. It focuses on improving students’ accuracy, fluency, and confidence in speaking and listening, while also enhancing vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, reading, and writing skills. Students will explore various topics related to everyday life in the UK, formal and informal language usage, as well as English for academic and employment purposes.
Vocational Studies is designed to help learners develop the personal and social skills needed to help them to progress to future employment or further vocational study. The course is an introduction to various subjects, such as Business, Health and Social Care. Students explore travel and tourism in the UK focusing on the local area. Number and Measure Mathematics qualifications builds sound knowledge and understanding of foundation mathematical techniques, vocabulary needed to understand mathematical tasks and students’ confidence in concepts of numbers and measures.

Assessment
ESOL Skills for Life is assessed through external examination in 3 areas: Reading, Writing and Speaking and listening.Vocational Studies is 100% coursework, which can be in the form of a written or practical work. Mathematics is 100% exam based across three exams.
Progression
FURTHER COLLEGE STUDY: Students who successfully complete the ESOL programme will be able to progress on to any Level 2 course at Richard Taunton
Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications needed to study a Level 1 course. Just a willingness to learn and enthusiasm to develop your knowledge, skills and aspirations.
