Course Summary
The course emphasises real life English application, enabling learners to apply their skills in personal, social, and professional contexts. Completion of this course equips learners with foundational English language competencies, enhancing their ability to function effectively in everyday situations and preparing them for further education and employment opportunities.
During this course you will focus on reading, writing, speaking and listening.
This is a roll on and roll off course with start dates in September, January and April.

This is a 9 week course and will be deilvered online. This course is free subject to meeting eligibility criteria such as being aged 19 years or older.

To achieve this qualification, learners will be assessed via 3 controlled assessments, which cover:
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
- Listening
- Communicating
The College requires an attendance rate of at least 90% to enable students to achieve and progress. You will be expected to attend weekly taught lessons either face to face or online. Homework will be given at regular intervals.
Assessment
Throughout the course your tutor will provide feedback, with exam-based assessments of; reading, writing and speaking and listening.
Progression
You can progress onto the next level of Functional skills, another adult education course or GCSE English.
Entry Requirements
While there are no strict entry requirements for this qualification, students will need to complete initial and diagnostic assessments in English and maths to determine the level of the course.
