Students Celebrate Diversity with International Event
19th March 2018
As part of their event management module, a group of our business students put their organisational skills to the test by planning and running an international event for charity.
The students (Valeria Braicau, Alicia Antiguedad, Lona Safdari, Najmo Ali, Owen Wong and Katarzyna Kowalik) delivered an exciting afternoon of food, fashion and performances to celebrate our diverse student body and increase awareness of international cultures.
There was a great atmosphere in our main hall. Our students got the crowd going with music, dancing and a colourful fashion show. This included a fantastic performance from our Rock Challenge group, giving a taster of their Premiere Division routine, which is inspired by the Notting Hill Carnival.
Our students also showed their culinary skills by bringing in exciting dishes from countries around the world. The array of great-tasting foods made for interesting lunch time dining, but also helped to raise money for a great cause. Altogether the event brought in over £150 for the QE2 Activity Centre!
Valeria Braicau, one of the student organisers and winner of the Wessex Enterprising Student Award, says “I think it was a huge success and a big step up from the events we planned last year. We’re particularly pleased with how the fashion show went and we were blown away with how many students came to the main hall to watch it. People just didn’t want to leave!“
