Employability Conference Paves Way for Career Success

27th March 2018

We held our annual employability conference this month, which offered our students not heading to university the opportunity to explore future career options and get equipped with the right skills and knowledge for full time employment.

Our conference included a range of employment related workshops and apprenticeships/careers talks, which gave our students a broad understanding of the different career opportunities available. We also paired up our students with our industry partners for mock interviews, making sure they are fully prepared for their next steps after college.

We welcomed volunteers from the University of Chichester, Southampton City Council, JCP, and the University of Southampton who led the series of mock interviews. The interviewees gained valuable feedback from the professionals and learned top tips about what employers are looking for.

Councillor, Satvir Kaur, was one of the industry professionals that guided students through the mock interviews. Satvir says, “‘I really enjoyed assisting with Richard Taunton’s Employability Conference. It was great to play my part in helping students get ‘work ready’ through mock interviews. I was utterly blown away by their professionalism and skill!”

Our Principle, Alice Wrighton, says “This was once again a great event. Huge thank you to all of our business partners for passing on their expert advice to our students. The work from this conference will have a positive and lasting impact on our students’ confidence as they make their first steps onto the career ladder.”
