We provide excellent academic and pastoral support for our students through our college tutorial system called PREP. Each student has PREP timetabled once per week, currently on either Tuesday or Thursday afternoon.
Your tutor is your first point of contact at college, and the person you can talk to about any concerns. Your tutor is normally one of your subject teachers, and they will support you during your time here. You will have one-to-one sessions with your tutor to discuss your progress towards achieving your target grades for each subject. Your tutor will also help to guide you through your University, Apprenticeship or Job applications. Your tutor works with a Learning Area Manager who is responsible for your overall progress and welfare during your time here.
PREP aims to develop independent study skills and you will be able to learn about aspects of skill development including:
- Revision Tips
- Note Taking
- Time Management
- Reading for Effectiveness.
In addition to developing good study skills, you will look at a range of personal, social and health topics and will explore and discuss a range of issues including:
- How to stay safe (including online safety) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Money Management
- Alcohol and drug awareness
- Career and further study pathways.
You will have a number of Progress Review Days during the academic year where you will be able to meet with your tutor to discuss your progression in all subjects and set targets ensure you achieve your potential. Your tutor can also advise and refer you to other services available in college to support your learning, health or financial needs.
