Our students delivered three spectacular performances of Carrie the musical at The Hub Theatre in April, to a sellout audience. It featured 55 students from across a variety of courses all of whom were all thrilled at being given the opportunity to perform the musical after last years highly successful production of Rent.
The cast have worked with a dedicated creative team to develop the performance over a series of months. The musical, based off on Stephen Kings novel ‘Carrie’, tells the story of Carrie White who has always been an outsider. Relentlessly tormented at school and tyrannized by a fanatical mother, she begins to have hope that things will change when she is unexpectedly asked to her senior prom. Little does she know what cruelty her classmates have in store for her, and what extraordinary and terrifying power her anger will unleash.
Finlay Gingell who portrayed the role of Carrie White, says, “I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to perform in a professional venue in front of a sellout audience. I really enjoyed the whole process and being able to see the vision come to life’
Rob Collier, Director of ‘Carrie The Musical’, says, “We are delighted to be able to give our students the opportunity to take a performance out to a local venue and perform to a capacity audience. The whole process has been an amazing experience and the students were outstanding in performance. ”
This experience encompasses just one of many outstanding opportunities available to performing arts students at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College.
